In “An Immense World” Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ed Yong encourages each of us to go beyond what we think we know, in order to better understand ourselves and the world around us. By studying how different species process the world around them, the reader can appreciate the unique sensory experiences of animals, expanding their understanding of how the animal lives. Yong’s book helps readers gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of wildlife and the vastness of the world we live in.
Author Ed Yong will be speaking on Friday, March 1, at two separate events:
10:30 a.m., at Suncoast Technical College Conference Center, 4445 Career Lane, North Port, adjoining the Shannon Staub Library.
7 p.m., at Selby Library, 1331 First St., Sarasota.
Seating for both events is first come, first seated, there is no registration.
In addition, younger readers are also encouraged to participate in this year’s One Book program by exploring the companion book “Did You Know? Animals” by Derek Harvey, a Smithsonian book with amazing answers to more than 200 awesome animal questions.
