Intermediate Clay Class (ages 9-12)
Bring your upper elementary student for an outdoor art experience working with Clay!
Intermediate Clay class is often messy, sometimes silly, and always fun! Clay is a favorite for all ages, and we will dig into a range of projects in this exciting medium. We find our inspiration in artists, current events, and Farm life.
Class starts with a farm tour and animal feeding, then we head to the outdoor classroom to get our hands in the clay and build something awesome! Clay projects are designed to satisfy the age range, and use handbuilding techniques such as coil, slab, sculpting, puzzling, and more.
Students will learn a variety of glaze techniques as well as occasional alternative fun options to decorate the surface of ceramic work.
All finished projects will be kiln fired, and glazed at next attended class. Consecutive classes not required.
Glazing same day is possible in situations of limited attendance, pickup projects a week later. Ask for details.
Class is entirely outdoors and around animals, so please dress for the weather and bring water. Closed toe shoes recommended. Severe storms may cause us to reschedule the event.
The Treehouse (playground) is open for participants and siblings, with parental supervision.
See you on the Farm!
Covid 19 - Social Distancing is encouraged, and handwashing readily available. Classes are entirely outdoors. Please continue to make smart choices regarding personal health and risk factors prior to attending classes. Please do not attend if you or your family members are sick.
